BETA Systems International (BSI) is seeking qualified professionals to support sign language interpreter referral services for the New York State Education Department (the client agency) Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (the client agency). BSI will provide on-site and VRI services to deaf and hard of hearing individuals across multiple district offices statewide. All positions require a commitment to professional ethics, compliance with service delivery policies, and adherence to the RID Code of Professional Conduct.

Position Overview
BSI seeks Certified Sign Language Interpreters to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services for clients, staff, and program activities. Interpreters work in on-site and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) settings across district offices and approved locations statewide. Assignments include vocational rehabilitation counseling sessions, job training programs, employer meetings, and other client-administered functions.

Service Locations
BSI serves multiple district offices statewide. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate ASL interpreting for one-on-one counseling sessions, group meetings, and vocational training activities.
  • Deliver on-site interpreting at district office locations and client-designated sites.
  • Deliver VRI services using approved technology platforms.
  • Complete and submit signed timesheets for each assignment through the the client vendor portal.
  • Notify BSI at least 72 hours in advance when unable to fulfill a scheduled assignment.
  • Adhere to the RID Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Participate in team interpreting arrangements when assignment length or complexity requires a second interpreter.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Active certification from RID, the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) at Level III or above, or a recognized equivalent body.
  • Demonstrated language proficiency in both ASL and English.
  • Experience interpreting in vocational rehabilitation, social services, or a related professional setting preferred.
  • Ability to maintain required documentation, including timesheets signed by the client or client agency staff.
